Reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-invasive natural healing therapy, based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears which correspond to every muscle, joint, gland, and organ of the body.

What can this therapy treatment do for me?

Reflexology aims to improve your health by reducing tension and increasing circulation.  By applying pressure on specific reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears a Reflexology Therapist can stimulate the corresponding organs or glands to promote natural function of the related area of the body.

Reflexology is not a massage as understood in scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body and is not referred to as such.  It stands alone and separate from other therapies.  It may however, enhance/complement other practices.

It is important to note that a Reflexology therapist does not diagnose illnesses, or prescribe any treatments, medications, or supplements.

What is the process?

Before a treatment begins you will be asked questions regarding your medical history.  You will then be placed in a relaxing and comfortable position in a reclining chair.  To start your feet will be thoroughly cleaned and inspected for any common foot problems or pathogens.  Then the treatment begins with a variety of gentle warm up techniques followed by a thumb or finger walking motion over all the reflex points of both feet as the body is considered to be a whole unit.  Sessions usually last about one hour.  Continued dialogue after the first treatment will give your therapist important information on how your body is responding. The goal is to provide safe and effective treatment, which encourages your body to harmonize imbalances and restore the natural healing paths your body requires.

Charlene is a Registered Certified Reflexology Therapist with the Canadian Reflexology Association.  Charlene recommends starting your reflexology journey by booking 3 treatments 7-10 days apart.  At your first appointment you will discuss a treatment plan suited to your needs.
